After 21 exhausting hours of travel (lost in airports, scammed by shops and roasted in Qatar), we finally arrived in the gigantic city of Bangkok on tuesday 7PM.
It seems that this city suffers from a bad reputation, accused of being vicious, polluted, over-crowded. For us this city is warm, cosy, friendly and charming. We came in koh-san area, which is very busy and famous for the night life and tourists. Things are very messy, scooters drive without helmet, people walk on the road (so does Caro).
But once you enter in the little streets, you see charming landscapes of people cooking thai food on the pavement under beautiful vegetation covering the street while an old man carying a big box of fish pass by. Thai people are poor but they look like they don't expect anything more about life. They don't look in a rush, you never hear any honk (despite there could be a lot), people are always smilling. When you ask for help, they do their best to solve your problem even tough they don't speak good english. By the way I'm getting better and better in speaking with gestures (caro wants to call it 'body language' but it's has too many sexual connotations). Caro 's also teaching me the art of negociation. She's capable of reducing half of the price of anything thai people propose to her.
We went to see something called "ping pong show", it's some girls on a stage doing impressive performances with their body. (one of the performance includes ping pong balls). The atmosphere is nice, girls speak with the staff while dancing on stage. It's not too serious and perverse as it could be in some country. Although we can imagine the girls are not having so much fun. We can't let you see pictures of it as staff wouldn't let us take any (which is completely understandable)
The culture difference is a real shock, the body has trouble to adapt to this environment. Even when asking "not so spicy", you mouth is on fire. Everything has a different taste than what we're used too, our body is sweety 24hours a day (even after showering)
Plans for next days :
Kanchanabury (the famous "pont de la riviere kway")
Ayutaya , walk around on elephant's back
southern island
Kisses to everyone
Caro and Vinc

our first "tuk tuk" travel. (it has been modernized since the one you can see in tintin "le lotus bleu")
we were told many times to avoid ice cubes, but it's impossible, they are everywhere.

some canadians dragged us into this nightclub. Those place are always funnier abroad (good opportunity to see caro drinking in some stranger's bottle in the street and vincent dancing on techno music)

Bangkok grand palace (miniature of Angkor temple)

no vinc... you still look like a tourist

why do i think that this has been made with flash ?
some scary food in thailand
caro ran out of money, she had to get a job (the kind of job that unfortunately made thailand famous)
usual mess in Ko-san area
caro walking alone at my research (probably in some naughty bar... lol)

caro and vinc : loyalty against anarchy we have chosen our side
